Tick tock, tick tock. The first day of fall is September 23, and it’s a great time to consider some
essential pieces for your wardrobe. I’ve never been one to focus on fashion trends. Instead,
I prefer pieces that can evolve with my wardrobe over the years. To refresh your look, or
establish your signature style, check local department stores, sample sales, or online boutiques.
You’ll find me in lesser-known consignment shops arming my wardrobe with rare, unforgettable
finds. Let’s get into it…
Whether it’s moving into a new job or a enjoying a night out on the town, consider the following
pieces to get fall-ready in a flash:
1. Classic White Button Down
A crisp white button down will carry you from the boardroom to happy hour. During the day, try pairing a white dress shirt with a cardigan or blazer. And don’t be afraid to experiment with accessories including jewelry, scarves and belts. For casual outings, roll up the sleeves, loosen a couple of top buttons and pair with your favorite denim. Whether it’s dinner with friends or out shopping, your look exudes effortless style.
2. Striped Shirt
Like the white button down shirt, the options you’ll have with pairing a striped shirt with your wardrobe favorites are endless. Mix it with solids, plaids or florals. Try wearing it under a trench coat with khakis or brightly colored pants.
3. Dark Wash Jeans
Since their invention in 1873, jeans have remained a fashion favorite. Find them on fashion runways, season after season. Dark rinse jeans are a timeless winner and easily transition your ensemble from day to night. Find the fit and cut that’s best for you and your style.

Lovely statement boots can move you out of your comfort zone and are also
distinctive. Your new favorite pair could be some slick riding boots, a chunky pair of galoshes or chic ankle booties with delightful details. Find a stylish pair to make any outfit pop.
6. Statement Coat
As the temperature drops, a unique coat can highlight your individual style while keeping your warm and cozy. Look for coats that are well-structured, yet comfortable. Are you always in black? Try a coat in tan, smoky gray, lavender or even animal-print. For rainy weather, consider a water-resistant raincoat to layer with other pieces throughout the season.

Sunglasses are essential to your wardrobe. Invest in a pair that compliments your face shape. Many online eyewear stores offer guidance on selecting the best pair for you. Be sure to keep your glasses in good condition, polished and smudge-free.
